Our compact little village has a thriving and creative local community which supports lots of independent shops and businesses.
Add beautiful, dog-friendly beaches, world-class pubs and restaurants, and access to some of the county's most stunning coast path and walks, it's not hard to see why we're so proud of where we live.
Enjoy some of the stunning views in and around St Agnes, and get a taste of the special community atmosphere at events like the Carnival and World Bellyboarding Championships.
Whether you prefer a bustling pub, a peaceful cottage, a campsite with stunning views or a fancy hotel, there's something that will suit you. The whole area prides itself on being very dog-friendly.
The festival is a vibrant mix of street theatre, music, and community spirit. Here is the typical schedule for the May Bank Holiday weekend (1st – 2nd May 2027):
Saturday, 1st May – The Lantern Procession: As dusk falls (around 8:15 PM), a beautiful lantern procession leaves from Churchtown Square. It winds its way up to The Beacon, where a massive bonfire is lit at 8:45 PM accompanied by a community BBQ.
Sunday, 2nd May – The Big Day:
12:30 PM – Street Theatre: The festivities begin in the village. The Bolster Drum Band leads life-sized puppets through the streets, stopping at the village pubs to “search” for the giant.
4:30 PM – The Pageant at Chapel Porth: The main event! Thousands gather on the cliffs to watch the dramatic re-enactment of the legend against the backdrop of the Atlantic waves.
(Times are based on the traditional festival calendar; we always recommend checking the official Bolster Festival site closer to the date for any community-led changes!)
